if i’m not really sure what the contents of a given folder are, and i want to look into files as i go, i’ll often just open vim in file explorer mode

interesting, that’s equivalent to cd ~ for me

a big reason to have block is so that you can’t get quote tweeted by a much bigger account. if you block them, they can’t put you on blast. even though they can circumvent the block with a different account, it won’t have as much reach.

you’re saying calling something a “cesspool” isn’t insulting?

i mean, yeah. if you insult someone, they’ll typically defend themselves

the poor database performance of Lemmy seems to be what puts LemmyWorld down so often

agreed. but lashing out at developers who are just trying to find out why the db performance is subpar with accusations of “hazing” is incredibly aggravating and antithetical to the entire concept of FOSS. there is a reason why almost every open source organization uses codes of conduct

your comments there are exceptionally aggressive. you accuse the developers of “hazing” you when they disagree with a technical decision you’ve made, and then insult them, posting wild rants. i’ve seen you do this many times. you need to step back, relax, and not take technical feedback so personally

… that’s not how percentages work

lemmygrad seems to be trans-friendly, and hexbear certainly is, but you can’t just add percentages together to get the total percentage

that’s fair - i’d be comfortable moving iowa into the core. i left it on the periphery because western iowa is very much great plains-esque

regardless, if iowa is in the core, then so is wisconsin and michigan

the great lakes are objectively just part of the midwest, and i refuse to accept kansas as part of the midwest. missouri is closer, but still definitely not midwest

how can iowa be part of the core, but not wisconsin or michigan??

the core midwest are the great lakes states: wisconsin, michigan, illinois, minnesota. i’ll typically put indiana in there too

then, there’s the peripheral midwest, which i typically consider part of the midwest: iowa, ohio, nd, sd

finally, there’s the not-really-midwest: nebraska, western PA
