I'm a manager and I do not think like that at all. I want people with the right skillset who can do their job well without babysitting, and I strive to pay them as much I can with the budget.
It's so fucking hard to find someone who's not a fucking idiot that if I get one I'll do everything I can to make sure they stay.
I've never actually tried or got the point of this test stuff tbh. It didn't exist when I started so I never really got the point of it. I tried reading up on it a bunch of times and it seemed like extra work for nothing 🤷
It seems popular though so maybe one day I'll get around to it....
My wife sent me a great article on this that was originally written in 2019 but is now even more relevant. I thought it was a fun read at first but as I kept going it started to actually unsettle me a bit https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/
Shit, I have 3 or 4 holidays every year and it still feels like I'm always working. How the hell do you cope without a single holiday??
I opted out by just writing gdpr in the reason box. Nothing else, just gdpr. It got accepted.
I'm so glad I was able to establish a career and become well known in an industry before applying for positions was so demoralising and exhausting. I worry about what things will be like in another few years when my children enter the job market.
Thank you, this is my viewpoint exactly. We are exploited by both but one is after money, the other is a threat.
Any keyboard you want really. Most of the time spent coding is thinking not typing.
Well fuck me, that's a name I haven't heard for close to 20 years and it didn't twig until just now.
