[-] [email protected] 33 points 1 year ago

Fuck this is really good.

"Lemmy show you something cool."

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

we finally have something instead of:

"I read it [on the internet]"

"I reddit"

Aah yes, signal and lemmy 💯

Matrix would’ve been better imho

If only I could get my contacts to join me.... I have two (real-life) friends in XMPP and none in Matrix 😅 I count my blessings and am thankful to have a few contacts that use Signal. I make sure to compensate them for their service with memes borrowed from Lemmy.

ejabberd recently announced full matrix federation at the server level, so there’s hope

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Matrix is the most secure because most of the time not even you can decrypt your own chats

Decent SEO, hope we top out someday

alt-text: DuckDuckGo results for Lemmy, showing A British rock musician taking the top info card and top result while join–lemmy.org is #2

To top out Lemmy would be a bad move. In this case we could consider a #2 being equal to being #1. Nothing's greater than Lemmy, a British rock musician.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

Good stuff

Signal and Lemmy, gotta be my two favorite genders

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

not sure. I just use it to chat with friends, family and such, not so much for new connections

[-] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago

But if you pop over to Reddit it's a lot of similar memes.

This is one reason I’m not a fan of the block feature (and I suppose even have slight concerns about instances blocking other instances). “Recommendation transparency”(?).

Would be neat to say “here, I curated this feed for you” and link somebody to the instance you use with a block list embedded. If we get used to browsing without seeing furry goblin porn, friends might be surprised when we recommend a site that has so much of it.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

My hope is that if enough people block an instance, it'll just die out over time from not enough interaction.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Should've said "the Internet", as most memes get cross-posted across various sites/apps.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

“Yeah I could’ve guessed that”

What kind of books do you like to read?

Oh, the kind with words in them.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago
[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not even close to the same thing. Books generally don't copy other bodies of work like the way memes spread across multiple sites. I can't read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and expect to find a Tyrion chapter from A Clash of Kings.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

What kind of books do you like to read?

Oh, the kind I find at the library.

Good point so hope that’s better.

Bigger point is credit where credit is due! Maybe Lemmy’s curation is superior, allowing OP to see more memes of higher quality in the time they allocate for lulz. In that case they should definitely shout out the fediverse. There are dozens of us and we can use more!

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The question was "where do u get the memes?", not "where do they come from?"

So yeah, we need some more reading comprehesion there bro

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Be sure to include a URL next time

This implies that you see memes on lemmy, that are not bad (or just few in number). What communities are you following?
