We actually ran out of Forest tiles at the very end, so I had to break out the Gloomhaven upgrade tree. Need to make 6-8 more

This just made me realize you could 3D print Heroscape figures and the tiles.

And well, every other miniature tabletop game.

....this is how it begins. next, you'll have an entire warehouse dedicated to storing terrain tiles and figures. and your partner only tolerates it because they're selling older tiles behind your back and you haven't noticed it...

Looks great! The game almost looks like Settlers of Catan. How's it play?

Terraforming Mars is great. A lot more going on than with Catan, but it does have aspects of the same sort of tile/game piece placement. Aspects of engine building, drafting (optional), deck building, and resource management too.

Usually its a 1.5-3hr play through, depending on how experienced the players are and how many people are playing (1-5).

One big plus over Catan is it plays well with just 2 people.

It is a long game with tons of ways to play, but you do need to keep track of many elements of your engine in order to do well. We love it but its a medium-heavy game that I would not introduce to non-board gamers. It's very satisfying to fire off your engine near the end of the game and the 3D tiles really elevate the experience!

It plays like a computer strategy game. Great if you enjoy complexity, but can put a lot of people (normally none gamers) off.

Can be played solo too (not tried it)

I've yet to find friends to play it with me because the rules and mechanics of the game require a lot of time to learn. There's like a 20 minute video that explains how to play it that I watched.

I think it looks super fun and I like the style, but again I have no experience actually playing it.

It is super fun but you're right it's a time commitment.

FWIW there's a pc/ios/android version that is a good way to get familiar with the game, although I can't quite imagine conceptualizing the digital version if you haven't already seen all the parts of the physical version.

Oh I'd love to check it out regardless, thanks for pointing that out. I might have more luck playing with some online friends and I've really been wanting to try it.

Wow, that's super cute and we'll done!

Thank you! It is a labor of love that took me many many hours to complete.

I haven’t stumbled across a tabletop game community yet, any recommendations?

On lemmy you mean? I think the boardgames community on feddit.de is active.

There are a few on lemmy but they are pretty quiet. Hoping they gain more traction soon

That looks great, much better than the original cardboard components

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks, yeah the base game components are basically trash so having new tiles and a playmat really makes a huge difference

Search around for some more resource trays there are some much better ones out there (IMO) that save everyone's income counts better from a knocked table.

Looks great though! Do you have a link for the models?

I have player boards that have inserts for each cube so they don't get knocked out. They are key
