Rich people are rich because they don’t pay for things.

There are rich people who don’t pay for their kids college.

One of the wealthiest families that I went to high school with set the expectation that they were not paying for their children’s college. They would provide support for their living expenses, so not 100 percent cut off, but both of them are quite successful. One became a medical doctor, the other a successful architect.

So with out them being able to get scholarships, they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go to college in the same way.

"By any means necessary" don't ring so well when you're born into generational wealth

Jenny from the block got money for rocks but not tuition for her boys. Shameless bullshit

Kid with poor parents who can't pay for college: Scholarships

Kids with rich asshole parents who won't pay for college: "get fucked kid"

Rich parents don't mean rich kids once they turn 18. Happens to queer kids all the time. I wouldn't cut them off from scholarships.

Kid on the left looks like that one little cousin that everyone hates.

On the other side, this could be meant as standing up for merit-based scholarship, regardless of background. (Can't say if it is, but I'm not gonna denigrate the kids' presumed efforts by presuming they didn't put any.)

I'll say this. Having money just makes it easier to succeed. Usually basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare are accounted for and never need to be thought about. Most people think about bills and healthcare costs at least once a day. Rich people can afford tutors, special schools, personalized attention, coaches, therapists, counselors, etc. That sets them up for success. It takes less effort for rich kids to get to baseline compared to poor kids. So yes, I think rich people have it easier. Also, being related to a celebrity helps. Universities want that clout

That was my thought. There is a certain value for a student in seeking and getting scholarships. Now, a good idea would be to spend her money providing funding to the school itself. That way her kids aren't the only ones to see the benefits.

They could be really smart and studied hard or they could be lazy and dumb. They would have been accepted to the all regardless.

It very much depends on the critical missing detail of what colleges these were. UC schools (for example) regularly turn down far more wealthy/famous students than them, and have a pretty decent system for judging based on merit before applications are considered. Other schools vary greatly - some fully anonymize applicants, others are outright for sale. We can't know without more info, which given the public status of their parent is probably reasonably redacted for their privacy.

(Many merit based scholarships also strictly remove irrelevant PII from applications - but by no means all)

Their entire life ambition is stealing thing from others. They don't feel alive if they don't feel superior.

Both. They should be finding scholarships and should get them if earned

How about we just make university free like in most developed nations? Why can our government bail out greedy corporations but not the future working class?
