The head of the Jewish Greens has said she may leave the party after it voted to adopt a policy that equates Zionism with racism and calls for Israel to be replaced by a single Palestinian state.

The motion says Zionism – the movement for a Jewish state – should be “treated as any other form of racism”. It calls for Israel to be replaced by a single Palestinian state “with equal rights for all”.

Some Jewish Greens have expressed concern that this will mean they could face disciplinary action for belonging to Jewish organisations that officially support Zionism, even synagogues. Supporters of the motion, which was led by a group called Greens for Palestine, have said this would not happen.

The chief rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, described the motion as “poisonous antisemitism” and a “threat to British Jews and to Britain”.

Yes? Churches shouldn't be able to promote violent political action, nobody should.

    She "may leave"?

It's hard to care about what someone I've never heard of may or may not do.

She should not "leave" on her own, she should instead be thrown bodily from the party and told never to return. Zionism is not just racism its also war crimes and murder. She's a bloodthirsty crybully and should be treated as such. We need to stop using this veil of "religion" to excuse war crimes.

Its not bad to criticize criminal ideas or criminal conduct. Its bad not to.

If you can't separate Judaism from Zionism, and condemn the latter, perhaps we don't want you in the party.

It should be noted that the motion doesn't say that Jews cannot live in Palestine (including what is currently Israel), but rather that it cannot be theirs exclusively. It states that Zionism, the belief that there should be a state exclusively for one people, is racism.

Zionists, it's seems, cannot or refuse to see that nuance.

This motion states Jews are welcome in the party, but Zionism is not.

Anybody who says anti-Zionism is antisemitism, like this chief Rabbi here, outs themselves as a colonialism and genocide supporter. We should not listen to them as they are either maliciously complicit or incapable of introspection and empathy.

Those who are simply uncomfortable with the motion (this can be understandable for the uninformed) must be reassured that the Greens stand against antisemitism.

Hamas and Bibi agree on one thing. Fighting is better than a two state solution.

Yep, it's fallen for both. Camp David was the closest it ever got. Guess it's just eternal war now.

We have to crush apartheid and force them to have equal rights for everyone. The current genocidal, Jewish supremacist thinking has to be defeated. It cannot be reasoned with. It will not be contained within Israel. One state with equal rights. No more occupation. Zionism was always going to end up in apartheid, theocracy, violence, genocide.
