On Monday, a King County judge will reexamine whether Christopher Leahy is now competent to stand trial for the May 10 stabbing death of 19-year-old University of Washington student Juniper Blessing.

Leahy is accused of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon in Blessing’s death. He has no previous criminal history. King County prosecutors accused Leahy of "viciously" murdering Blessing in the laundry room of her Seattle apartment building on May 10. A medical examiner reported that she was stabbed more than 40 times.

A psychologist’s June evaluation of Leahy described a “lengthy and well-documented history of severe mental illness, primarily of a psychotic nature,” and said at that time he was not competent to stand trial.
