I live in a Republican state (trying to get out), and I just had to watch 3 anti-trans commercials in a row. Hating trans people is fucking catnip to these people.
post
Yeah it feels like most states it's VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO, and a few are so safely Blue that you can vote for like Communist Party and still not have the GoP win
When it's a choice between "might try to kill trans people" and "Definitely will try to kill trans people" then you have to pick the lesser evil.
This is wrong. All people deserve equal rights, and if they don't support that they should leave the Democratic party. It's supposed to be foundational values for all, liberty and justice for all, and all that jazz and apple pie, but it really is not. Dems still best for democracy and We The People, but needs improvement.
It was all a lie,
Liberty, justice for all,
The owners get rich
This is the problem with the Democratic Party.
its not a Party. Its 37 parties in a trenchcoat, and there is no unifying idealism, goal, or outlook that binds them to singular purpose outside of the 2 party system crushing all the non-extrem-right-wing people together into the not-extreme-right-wing party (that is slowly becoming more and more right wing because of all the right wing people being forced into it due to the 2 party system)
You have some people, that genuinely care about the people and think its governments job to serve them, like Mamdani, and AOC, and Bernie Sanders (Who is technically Independent, but is basically a Democrat in everything but affiliation label, since he's always worked so close with them)
Then you have some people that don't think trans people should have rights/exist, and should be put in prison, but don't want to actively hunt them for sport, which makes them too lefty liberal for Republicans.
Then you have the actual Republicans like Fetterman, Sinema, and Manchin, who are actual Republicans running as democrats just to act as saboteurs on any democratic vote or cohesion.
and a whole big spectrum from shit to okay in between.
As a trans person I beg you, do not listen to my sister, Erin. She is not thinking clearly or responsibly about what will happen to us if Democrats lose.
If you would like to protest on our behalf, please don’t do it by not voting.
A Republican victory costs the community one seat for one term
No. Republicans plan to “end” us. Letting them win costs us our very lives.
Even if that weren’t the case, we are not so selfish as to sacrifice other people, and our planet, just to prove a point.
I feel like Erin has a point.
I also feel like the Dems in my state are the infinitely better alternative to the scam artist and big pharma conmen the GOP is putting forward. I'd much rather petition Acton and Brown to support the trans community than march in huge protests that are ultimately ignored by their Republican counterparts that are actively trying to harm and denigrate the trans community.
I’m seriously considering moving to Marie Gluesenkamp Perez‘s district and challenging her seat. She’s part of the “Blue dog coalition” and votes like she’s MAGA, she’s not any more qualified to do the job than I am, frankly I’m more qualified because she has no actual qualifications.
Edit: I’m from her state just an hour north, not just some rando
AFAIK you don’t have to move. Candidates are not required to live in the district for which they seek office. There are tons of districts across the US with basically unchallenged status quo incumbents who could be easily replaced by progressives.
hate looking at the comments for these pieces, its always full of people that think me and my sisters exist to farm votes and telling us to enjoy the camps when we dont want to associate with people that betray and genocide us
Enjoy abstaining and being “sent to camps” regardless, whatever the fuck that means, but this time along with a bunch of brown people.
Oh look. Yet another article post primary election to convince people not to vote so the Republican wins the general election.
If you don't vote you're a moron.
Republicans taking extreme stances on identity politics was always just bait to drag their opponents to their own court. And it worked beautifully. For the past ten years or so, it’s all been like that. Affordability, healthcare, work rights, all have been eclipsed by fucking identity politics, and I’m tired of it.
Why are we even focusing on performative bullshit when the vast majority of people are hurting in very specific and actionable ways? And by “we” I mean anyone left of center.
You really think that I should vote for Rhett Marques over Shomari Figures? Like this is a genuine belief? I am voting in the midterms and currently plan on voting for Shomari Figures...
Erin says that some people have argued for withholding votes from anti-trans democrats. That's not the same as casting a vote for the opposition. It's not at all ridiculous to withhold your vote from someone who is actively trying to harm you or throw you under the bus to advance their career. I know that's hard to understand if you aren't personally affected by something.
So tired of seeing my congressperson on every one of these lists. I voted against them in the primary, but in the general election my other choice will be someone who openly supports Trump.
Many, myself included, have argued against voting for the worst offenders on this list even where it means a Republican takes the seat.
Fascists love your strategy and support.
