Didnt realise vertical PV was a thing, but it seemed notable because:

  • vertical PV can include vegetation to increase outputs, whilst not shading foliage.
  • im some cases they have higher output than an equivalent area of traditional panels (surface area???)

there's big experimental installations of both horizontal and vertical which leads me to believe that it's best to just get whatever mounting suits the location

    Yes, the newer bifacial panels can collect energy from both sides. In certain conditions they can even exceed the rated wattage due to light scattering/reflecting allowing for more than nominal energy collection.
