As a hard-of-hearing person, I need either subtitles, or super-loud volume. But bad sound-mixers in todays movies make everyone mumble right before giant explosions.
And I really hate that Meta fucked up smart-glasses for everyone. We could have had IRL subtitles for people like me on local-only glasses, that don't record people, but they had to make it creepy.
You use subtitles because you couldn't hear what they just said, I use subtitles because I wasn't paying attention to what they just said, we're not the same.
AppleTV has a feature where they turn on subtitles for ten seconds when you hit the back button. Everyone should copy this.
Subtitles are awesome and necessary; blame the actors who keep mumbling their lines

I couldn’t understand anything that was being said in the Odyssey. Maybe it was done on purpose to cover up the languid dialogue
and sdh superiority <3
I can't focus on the movie if there are subtitles.
conversely i can't watch the scene if there's text on the screen
