Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

thinking is fun but oh gosh can it get repetitive. the mind has no repetition_penalty built in, in fact: it usually rewards thinking similar things over and over again.

this is generic enough that i can just post it here right? yea this is fine. i am my own filer and that filter says "whatever, doesn't matter, i got no secrets anyway, who cares. i don't". so i'm posting it.

next one is gonna be more fun, trust me. yeye this one is more or less "oh no i only got that much time before i need to sleep so this is what im gonna make" kinda thing. yes.

oh well, imma wait for "good time" now, whatever whatever.

I remember when I used to drink Monsters before it donkey-kicked my health one day.

I also remember wondering similar(she did not, she was a pick-me, besides the point).

I cannot think or even smell a Monster without thinking about the alcoholic version of it though. Smells and tastes near identical to each other.

It sounds wild. I wish I could have tried it but I wasn't drinking a lot of canned alcohol during that brief period.

I miss the old Energy+ Vitamin Water. It was so bitter! Like they didn't use to put any sugar in it, it was like drinking straight up crushed guarana

I understand these to be trans soda. But why sugar free in particular? Jenny Nicholson said aspartame has like this distinctive warm "bite" to it but I figured that was just her particular niche tastes. Is it the same for trans women?

oooooh the strawberry one? wellll the strawberry one is piiiink and its got swirls on it and its got a reasonably realistic strawberry taste and it only exists in the ultra-zero-sugar variant so ther is no regular sugar variant.

its pink and red kinda which makes it fun to look at, its similar to the regular white ultra buuuut its strawberry. its nice! its good. to me, its one of the best when I wanna have a good but easy to drink thing. its not harsh which is nice but its sour enough to remind you that strawberries are a bit sour. yeeee thats my judgement on it.
