TL;DR - it’s just tapering. Nothing revolutionary. Engagement bait title.

    it's not just tapering. it's that tapering for some ppl can take much longer, years instead of weeks, and may need a switch to liquid SSRI to do so effectively. it also talks about studies on long term SSRI use or use in older adults that have found effects on cognition.

    I tried tapering it for 6 months. It was so bad I got back on.

    I think I quit my SSRIs all very quickly when I've had them. Mostly cold turkey.

    But God forbid I miss a dose of the SNRI, Jesus fuck. My psych did not prepare me for these.

    It's common for people who have quit both to say that getting off of Effexor was worse than getting off of heroin (wife did addiction counseling).

    But SNRIs seem to either work super well, or completely fuck your shit up.

    I cold-turkey quit my anti-depressants. Just stopped taking one day because it was not helping me, and the withdrawal used to suck. It took me about two weeks to get over the withdrawal, but so worth it. Still, wouldn't recommend it though. I have been warned about regression, which was a non-issue since, it was not helping me. Please don't take it as advice, just my personal experience.
