The federal government under Trump is rounding up thousands of wild horses and letting them be sold to slaughter.

Technically wild horses aren't native to the US, they were introduced by the Spanish. There's debate as to whether they're considered invasive or beneficial for the ecosystem. The federal government has historically considered them a symbol of the frontier.

Regardless, there's no sane reason to go killing them all.

a coworker bought several mustangs through BLM. heavy red tape involving pen conditions to prevent injuries, etc. he was a welder and built heavy steel pens out of pipe. all that red tape to buy animals headed for glue factories. I thought he was nuts but he loved horses. this was in 1990s so this is nothing new.

spent time in Europe and was stunned to find out they have two kinds of butcher shops. 1st kind was everything but horse meat. 2nd kind was horse meat. horse was cheaper probably, I never went in one. Americans see horses more like pets until they cause problems for ranchers. then they remove them with help from BLM/government.
