A pine marten has been spotted at a nature reserve in Powys – for the very first time.

The elusive mammal was recorded for the first time at Gilfach Nature Reserve, near Rhayader, with the sighting captured on a camera trap by Rhodri Blakeway, a conservation intern with the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust.

Mr Blakeway said: "Efforts eventually paid off after reviewing one batch of footage; the bushy tail and yellow bib of a marten appeared on my computer screen.
