[Shitpost] The Great Debate: Are Ants Communists or Imperialist Pests? (thelemmy.club)

Inspired by one of my older classics, “Why Dolphins Aren’t Communists (and Never Will Be!)”, I decided it was time for another investigation into the political nature of the animal kingdom.

This time, however, in true ML spirit, I don’t want to jump to conclusions. Before we reach a final position, we must hold a proper debate in accordance to the principles of democratic centralism.

So, what is your opinion on ants?

Are they an example of communist organization?

Or are they actually tiny imperialist pests, ruthlessly expanding their territory, exploiting other species, and maintaining a brutal caste system under the command of an unelected queen?

It depends! Argentinian ants are a great cooperation example, even if the get into my coffee cup from time to time. Others are murderous creatures, like Army ants. Anyway, they are more like a monarchy of female eunuchs, with some "barbarian hordes that set fire to other colonies and steal their children" vibes.

    You shitpost, but I have unironically wondered sometimes if ants are similar to colonizers (or I guess imperialists would be more fitting). Unfortunately, I have never investigated beyond the idle thought that appears when they are being especially annoying about trying to expand into my place of residence. So I don't have real investigation to add.

    Honeybees actually fit the imperialism moniker substantially better funnily enough.

    Ants are a whole other beast, there are billions of ants dying daily in tens of thousands of border skirmishes and all out world wars.

    the queen is not in control. the workers control it, replacing it when it no longer works. its an axolotl tank for them.
