That's just an insult to Jimmy Carter.

    Who, it turns out, was a fabulous person, most deserving of the Presidency. It was the bureaucracy that failed us, not Carter.

    Completely his fault. He signed a peace deal that gave them everything, then forced his way out of it. He should have held out for better conditions or stuck with the deal he’d signed. What a disgrace.

    @return2ozma

    They say its an irony that Trump.s "held hostage" by his bombing of Iran.

    The itchy creepy irony is even worse.

    Because the Republicans got the Ayatollahs to keep the American hostages held by promising money and weapons to Iran.

    I don’t want to see this drag on for two more years, but I wouldn’t e surprised if his successor could reach an agreement quickly once assuming office. Trump will bad mouth such a deal. “We had them on the ropes, folks, then ___ came in and gave it all away. What are you gonna do?”

    I hoped the article would explain the context, but it didn't (or I didn't find it). Why is Trump about to become Jimmy Carter? What did Jimmy Carter do that is analogous to the situation that Trump may find himself in?
