I'm 40 years old, and when Republicans start yelling about "communism" it just confuses me. I didn't grow up fearing the Soviet Union. It died when I was still watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons. I figure they're communicating to really old people (which is bizarre since I feel extremely old). It's the equivalent of yelling at cavemen about saber tooth tigers.

I'm a similar age and can certainly relate.

Most of what I was told about communism was from people that didn't know what communism or socialism was. All the bad parts were basically what's wrong with any authoritarian government. "In soviet russia, you could be arrested for speaking out against the party! Isn't that awful!" That sort of a thing.

Once I realized that communism, socialism, and authoritarianism were all very different things and that many nations have varying degrees of each, it was game over. Someone being a communist or socialist just didn't mean anything to me. Especially since most of the time what they are actually advocating for is simply improving public infrastructure in ways that it used to work before Reagan and Clinton got in office and destroyed our public institutions.

I'm 56, and I've been confused about the modern accusations of communism because when communism was the big bad in my youth, I figured it was the authoritarianism and lack of freedom that was bad.

As it turns out, I was wrong. What was bad was apparently having the wrong group of people pillaging the country. If they had billionaires stealing everything instead of party elites, it would have been fine.

So communism was bad because western billionaires couldn't profit from it.

Yup. When you dig into the history of Cuba, Iran, basically all of central and South America, what you ultimately find is "This nation decided it wanted to be communist, but that hurt the bottom lines of banana, sugar, and oil companies, so the US waged unrelenting covert and overt wars against these nations".

46 and same, I don't even know shit about the red scare except from movies like Red Dawn, and I too watch the shit out TMNT! Damn good show and all the toys until my fucking useless mother sold them all to feed her drug habit and keep her boyfriend happy. Really pissed about that.

Ever since I was a child, every time the people would ask the government to do ANYTHING to help the citizens, Republican politicians would scream "OMG THAT'S COMMUNISM!"

So the younger generations learned correctly that communism is when the government helps its citizens and does everything a government should do, and tries to fix everything the Republican Party has done to break the citizens of the U.S..

Yeah, the whole "everything I don't like is communism" spiel has definitely hit the streets in the rural south. If you're not a Trump supporting MAGA Republican, you are a communist and/or you support communists. The DSA? They're the most communist Communists to ever commune.

After being called a communist in a discussion about the DSA, which I'm not even a part of by the way, I asked the accuser if they knew the difference between socialism and communism. Their response, NOTHING it's all the same thing.

Government run healthcare is communism. Defunding / abolishing ICE is communism.

But Trump administration's efforts to nationalize private companies/industry like Intel and US Steel? That's definitely not communism, it's totally different when Trump does it.

the most communist Communists to ever commune.

You should ask some of those red-scare republicans what they're doing in church when they receive "communion". Are they communing? As a community?

Christ's command to give what you have to help those in need, and share everything in common? No way that's communism, nope. Monastic communities living together and eschewing personal possessions? Definitely not communism!

I guarantee that if you ask these folks what communism is, they will have zero idea.

They just destigmatized racism and pedophilia, they're halfway to destigmatizing socialism... let's see how this works out for them.

If communism is the greatest threat to the country they want to build, then I think we have ourselves a goal.

They're defining "our country" as their country, and they're right.

Your mistake is assuming "our country" means America. It actually means "Epstein's Island."

  • If there's not enough inequality, if every child is everyone's responsibility, how will I exploit and rape them?

And you say communism is no threat to our society!? Its a threat to every part of our society that is great!

Is communism in the room right now? What about the Epstein files?

Somone tell him about North Korean Kim harems. Epstein underage prostitution is an amateur hour in comparison.

Prostitution has barely any say in this case, majority of the situation involved straight up rape.

Also identifying it as solely child rape is only the tip of the iceberg, as they involved different people of different ages including teens and young adults.
