AAA rated underwear does not exist. The rating describes how abrasion resistant the clothing is, and that is the job of your outer layer, be it leather or fabric. You do not want your underwear to be abrasion resistant.
Just wear any cheap base layer underneath to prevent degloving injuries and you’re good to go.
Im talking about products like the Bowtex Elite shirts/leggings or Pando Skin UH AAA. It’s not a boxershort, but something you usually wear under clothes.
Now I understand. Once rode in a group where one lady wore those leggings because she couldn’t find fitting outerwear.
My take: I’d stick to my textiles. They’re reflective, have the pockets and adjusting straps or zippers. You can often open up flaps or add stuff to make them as airy or waterproof as you want.
I’d rather have separate layers that can slide against each other to ease the friction and bumps and not transfer it straight to the skin.
Wearing AAA outers and inners is overkill and I can imagine uncomfortable.
Just imagine how inflexible a pair of theoretical 1000D boxers would be. I think I'd rather stick to my chainmail underpants, at that rate.
Wending our way back to reality, I do have a pair of cycling underpants (like, pedal bikes) with baboon butt padding in them. I bought them in the hopes that it'd make the 2x4 my Orion RXB250L calls a "seat" vaguely tolerable any time you have to be astride it for more than 15 minutes. They almost work.
I had these too, and it did help a bit for the Ninja.
I always make sure to have my AAA g string on when I'm biking. If I land head first in a ditch, I know my ass is insured at least.
