So much of the country is dark at 5pm on standard time. With the work day centered around 9-5, having some daylight at the end of the day would be nice. I always thought the solution would be making the work day center on 8-4, but work til the sun goes down has been engrained in our society for a long time.

Doesn't matter to me, I just hate flopping from one to the other.

Permanent standard time is objectively better, if anyone bothered to listen to the experts the opinion is clear. Last time we tried permanent dst it didn't last through the first winter, because people hated it

Plus it's been studied, having groggy people driving to work in the dark causes a lot more accidents than driving home in the dark

Your preference may depend where you live, east to west, in your time zone, as sun rise / sun set is an hour later in the far west than it is in the far east.
