All of it always has been a distraction. Be it the bathroom panic, the satanic panic, you name it, its all to keep people talking about non issues while assholes enrich themselves

Killing billionaires is the only solution any of us should be thinking about.

All politics around designating in-groups and out-groups is the same form of distraction. The end goal is to consolidate political power, and one of the easiest ways to do it has always been to point at a (usually already marginalized) group of people and claim that they are the cause of all your problems. Then you promise to fix it by punishing that group. Nobody ever seems to notice that the problems don't go away when that happens.
