Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner said in a video statement Wednesday he was suspending his campaign, taking aim at the Democratic establishment while clearing the way for the party to select a new candidate to take on Republican Sen. Susan Collins in one of the most important contests of November’s midterm elections.

Platner’s decision comes after a woman told CNN and Politico he raped her while he was heavily intoxicated nearly five years ago when they were in a casual dating relationship – an allegation Platner denies.

The "Stop Susan Collins by electing a Nazi" movement. It's really sad it has come to this :(

I think it's closer to "Susan Collins is so awful we'll take nearly anyone over her. The bar is that low." That said, he was always pretty awful.

Count Binface is a serious contender against Farage. Maybe Maine needs a comedic candidate of their own.

If the bar is low enough that voting for an actual rapist, war criminal, Totenkopf-tattoo enjoyer, lover of killing brown people and actual guard at a concentration camp is the one you'll take. Then no, there is no voting, burn it all down because wtf is wrong with AmeriKKKa??

No arguments there. That country is cooked.

Wow. I didn't even know they had that trial yet. I'd hate to be accused of something that severe, but I'm glad we're still letting juries decide instead of the mob.
