I own a 2020 MacBook Air with an i3 processor, and it's serving me well as I am not the heavy user. I'm curious about the anticipated duration of Apple's support for this MacBook line. Should I consider upgrading to one of the newer MacBook models?

I don’t think there’s any need to upgrade now if it’s serving you well. At the very least, you should be good for security updates for another two years.

There are still plenty of advantages to upgrading, of course. Even if you don’t need the extra processing power, the longer battery life could be quite useful.

(And we’re not talking small differences here … modern MacBook Airs offer like 5x the processing power and 3x the battery life.)

2020 should receive OS upgrades for another 3 years.

Also apple has never made an i3 air. There was an m3 MacBook which was older, I believe support for these has now ended.

Apple says the base Air in 2020 was an i3 but idk that I’ve ever seen one in the flesh.

Wow, thanks for clarifying this. I've never seen one in the wild either. Must have been a short run before the M1 air was released.

I was broke student back then and needed a computer ASAP for assignments. Hence the i3 Mac.
