According to EU regulators, the DMA requires Apple to give any AI system nearly unlimited access to a user’s device, as well as the ability to act on that access autonomously without a user’s ongoing visibility and control. That includes the ability to read and send messages, make purchases, access files, and execute actions across any app.

That sounds incredibly awful. Why?

To prevent the formation of a monopoly and allow more competition, in Europe Apple cannot create a walled garden where consumers are forever stuck in one ecosystem.

So since Apple has a system level AI that can secretly manage your entire device, they have to create a way for other companies to have the same degree of system access to compete with Apple.
