Donald Trump has claimed he could approve an Iran peace deal on Friday that contains major concessions from Tehran, including the opening of the strait of Hormuz and the elimination of the country’s nuclear programme. However, top Iranian officials signalled a final agreement had not been reached.

The two versions indicate Trump may once again be practising his “art of the deal” as he seeks to talk his way out of a war that has disrupted global energy supplies and rocked the world economy.

Trump emerged from the White House situation room after spending more than two hours with senior aides but did not immediately announce his decision. The New York Times, citing a senior administration official, reported that Trump had not made a decision on the peace deal.

I wish they'd stop running headlines whenever Trump says a deal is "about to happen."

Make the headline when the deal happens. Everything else, EVERYTHING else, is market manipulation.

Yeah but they manipulate the market through headlines :(

Yeah, you might have misread my post lol. I'm saying that they should only post the headline when the thing happens, not whenever Trump says a thing.

Look, you guys, he's the only one who can fix it. The only one - he's just so, this a really great war. For a really great country - I love this country. We have so many beautiful people. Did you see that actress in that classic film? What a beautiful, and that's why we have to win this war!

Please, I beg you, tell me this one is actually fake. It's a complete 50/50 in my mind.

I have a suspicion that may sound shocking, but I have my doubts about this trump guy and his trustworthy-ness.

You blew my mind. How did I not spot this sooner?!

[-] Janx@piefed.social 2 points 4 hours ago

Let me see. Who should I believe? The man who lies with every breath, or absolutely anyone that makes a contradictory claim...?

Trump is a lying piece of shit. Treat everything he says like it's opposite day. "Almost have a deal" - it's nowhere close. "I'm not even in the Epstein files, we weren't close" - I was one of his best friends and I'm in the files more than anyone else. "I am peace" - I'll start as many wars as I can to get the heat off of me. "The election was stolen from me" - I did my best to steal the election.

He's incredibly simple, unintelligent, and it's trivial to telegraph his moves.

Yes, but good luck convincing the red-baseball-cap-wearing masses that they made a mistake by voting for him.

Pride, hate and sunk-cost fallacy are a hell of a thing.

[-] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

They're completely a lost cause, and literally not worth an ounce of effort. Convincing less than 10% of the people that didn't even vote would have caused an easy loss for him in 2024.

We had 89 million people not even vote. Craziness.

So far, Iran has been right about everything.

I bet they'd agree if the US handed over trump and his sons, deal of the century, many people are saying it

[-] magnue@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

This is gonna be the biggest snipsnap so far.

Just like there was no agreement the last dozen times he said they'd reached an agreement. I'm beginning the man may not be entirely on the level.

Just more grift and market manipulation.

Hey it's infrastructure week again!

Trump... Who started all this. You know what - he should distract by reinstituting global tarrifs, because that was smart \s
