Many such cases. I actually think it's kind of bad to set the expectation that something is a dark comedy. Better to just let the movie stand on it's own without genre expectations. There's a tightrope that dark comedies have to walk - if it doesn't turn off at least a few viewers, then it is simply a comedy. But at some point, barely anyone is laughing. And that doesn't necessarily make the movie bad, but it can fuck with your expectations.

Yeah pretty much. I think that kind of comedy stuggles when the world gets too shit.
I'm now thinking about burn after reading and the gym trainers just trying to get out of financial hell is a lot less funny
