I am setting up my home to be all wired by Ethernet and was thinking that my modem would connect by Ethernet to a router (TP-Link ER605 V2 Wired Gigabit VPN Router ) and then connect my tv and computer to the router by Ethernet.

Never used a wired router before, does this sound like it will do the job.

I want to use the router or else I cannot watch streaming networks with being on the computer/internet at the same time.

If your router doesn’t have enough LAN ports for your devices, you can get an inexpensive gigabit Ethernet switch to add more.

So I would connect the cabel ethernet cable to a wan port and then connect the computer ethernet cable to a lan port or should that also go into a wan port?
