A question for ex fitbiters, what do you miss about Fitbit and do you regret moving on to Apple watch and leaving Fitbit behind?

I had a Fitbit Inspire 3 and switched to an Apple Watch SE2. I miss how lightweight the Inspire was. Also that it tracked Sleep and exercise without enabling it. However it was all it does and the App was so slow with syncing.

Battery life. I was able to get 10 days from my charge 5 vs 1 1/2 - 2 days on my series 7. Absolutely no regrets making the switch last year though

Auto Sleep tracking and 7 day battery

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I miss the wildly inflated step counts that made hitting my daily goal a breeze. My daily stats, compared to last year when my Charge 5 was alive, are consistently 2K lower. Fracking AW's making me exercise more.

I miss the Fitbit app itself, tbh. I had excellent experiences with Fitbit until I switched and this is definitely what I miss the most.

Sleep tracking and the interface

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Apple has great sleep tracking.

How so? The only thing that I don’t like is you have to physically put it in sleep mode to track. If it would automatically track without having to be in a focus it would be great.

Nothing, one is essentially a glorified toy and the other is a real piece of hardware.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

No fitbit battery ever lasted more than 10 months for me so no, no regrets.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I miss nothing about my FitBit. I had two that broke after a year and I was careful with them. I had A Samsung Active Watch 2 for over two years that was worlds better than the FitBit but now I have the AW 8.

FitBit is complete crap.

The detailed sleep tracker

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

My Fitbit didn’t pause workouts during every goddamn session due to tattoos

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I don’t miss the Fitbit. The Apple Watch is superior in every aspect. I have no regret.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It takes Apple Watch like 4 apps and at least 1 paid apps or subscription to do what Fitbit does in 1 app with 1 optional subscription. Apple Watch info is split between the Health app, Fitness app, Apple Watch App, and any third party apps you use (which Apple Watch is reliant on to cover uses that Apple doesn’t natively cover like auto sleep tracking).

Also, Fitbit has the best sleep tracking out of all fitness trackers in the market. Apple Watch requires either a paid app for mediocre sleep tracking (via the Auto Sleep app) or you must sleep within your scheduled sleep hours with Sleep focus enabled for sleep tracking to work.

Also, requires daily charging on the Apple Watch while Fitbit lasts 7+ days depending on your model.

I don’t miss anything. My Apple Watches have been much better all around.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I preferred the steps on the screen of the Versa vs rings. and I realize there’s probably some custom complication for that. Absolutely nothing else.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Just put the steps on the complication. I use steps and distance.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I miss the auto detect and start fitness tracking, battery life(obv it does way less), and all the awards I earned.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I was an early Fitbit user and LOVED them. I had a bunch of different models. I do miss it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Just upgraded from a Fitbit Sense to an Apple Watch when the 9 came out. I miss sleep scores (maybe they were voodoo, but I still liked having one), the battery life, having everything in one app, and being able to track calories in/out without needing yet another app (seriously for all of the things that you can track in the Health App, not having native food tracking is wild).

All that said, there are lots of things that Apple Watch does better than my Fitbit, and I’m happy with the upgrade. But there are things I miss.

My Fitbit was the charge 2, I can do everything the Fitbit did on my Apple Watch

things I do miss is not being scared of scratching it or damaging it. I do hv AppleCare but i still care abt it. It was very tough and small as well, it wasn’t waterproof but I did lots of water activities with it and it was fine. The Fitbit also needed charging ever TEN DAYS while my Apple Watch needs it every two days

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Continuous heart rate monitoring.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I got so used to steps as the metric and even after a year it’s been an adjustment to have it now be active minutes. I also liked the FitBit app because it was more social. The Apple Watch is a smart watch that has fitness settings. Fitbits are pretty exclusively fitness watches.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I was waiting for somebody to mention the forum/sociability!

Custom watchfaces

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

For me it’s the battery and truly custom watch faces. The Apple Watch has custom face apps but they need to be refreshed or reset every hour afaik.

I'm an ex Nike Fuel band user if that counts?

The Fitbit did sleep tracking like no other device I’ve used. That was the ONLY thing that it did right. Fitbit is garbage. Every Fitbit I ever had died about six month after the warranty ended. And the most they would offer is a coupon for 20% off another Fitbit. Talk about an abusive relationship. I’d been a customer of theirs since the very first step tracker they put out but I finally had to move on to Garmin. And then I got an iPhone and the rest is history. I now use an AW8 and an Ultra 2.

Oh, and the Fitbit also kept the time pretty well.

Battery life.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I was a Fitbit fan for long long years. Dont miss anything. It was a good time, but I feel I want to move and exercise more through these days even after 1.5 years from switching. Apple does the gamification on the top level.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Well I like that it’s a watch and not a pocket clip that will go through the washing machine every time I forget to take it off my jeans or die when I sweat too much with it clipped on my sports bra. Oh and I don’t miss having to use MFP to bridge the data over to Apple health.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Fitbit was better with sleep I’d say

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Battery life

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Nope. Fitbit gave me a rash and the screen cracked pretty quickly.

Ex Fitbit, Ex Jawbone, Ex Withings

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I've been thinking of trying a Fitbit so these replies are insightful.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Nap tracking, notification when connected to CarPlay, step tracking on Home Screen, are the most important features I miss. I fixed the Nap tracking problem with a third party app but the notification has to be one of the worst.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I like my aw ultra 2 device much better than any Fitbit I’ve had but I really miss the Fitbit app. I don’t like how with apple it’s split into different apps and less clear to understand

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Have had the Apple Watch for 4 years and it’s safe to say that the main ones I remember is the sleep tracking, heart rate and steps being more easy to access.

Oh and the main one being how long the battery life is!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I’ve found that the Apple Watch is so much more accurate than the Fitbit. Compare step counts between the two and you will be so surprised

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

As many others said, the continuous heart rate tracking and sleep recording with Fitbit is awesome. Apple isn’t even trying. Everything else however, the hardware, the ecosystem, is crap.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I went through several Fitbits, and they never measured heart rate correctly. Also the fitbits died constantly. Got a few replaced under warranty. Finally gave in and bought the Apple Watch. Best decision ever.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I had the Fitbit luxe so nothing fancy but I really liked how they did their sleep tracking. As a night shift worker, it’s annoying seeing my sleep info split on the health app. Also, how they expect you to sleep the same schedule everyday since I tend to sleep different on weekends. Wish they could change that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Sleep tracking on Fitbit was much better, I liked the sleep score and monthly sleep animal thing. Battery life also much better. And the 250 steps per hour thing (well actually I kind of had a love hate relationship with that but I did notice my general activity level went down when I first started using AW). But overall I prefer AW.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I do miss my Fitbit still, I’ve had an AW over a year or so. Would love everything everyone has mentioned; better sleep tracking, better auto detection of workouts, a more streamlined app with everything in one place, and would prefer a ring for steps or distance. Probably because a Fitbit was my first tracker, I’m more motivated by steps than calories, it’s taken time to train my brain that calories are a better metric.

I wouldn’t go back though, due to device longevity, all the other non fitness features, and the main reason I got one is to listen to music and podcasts while I walk.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I loved Fitbit for many years, like 12-15. But I hate the app now and Google has ruined it. So just switched to AW9 a few weeks ago. I am getting used to the rings. I think I’d like easier step tracking than I have on AW9 but I need to figure out the right face and complication. Someone also mentioned the separate Steps app so I’m trying it. But maybe the rings are enough? I need to learn more about them. Fitbit did have easy to read sleep tracking but hubby has read that all sleep tracking on any device is really crap….. but I still liked seeing my Fitbit sleep score. But I am not going back to Fitbit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

My Fitbit was basically a separate device.

My Apple Watch is an extension of my phone.

They each have their benefits. Fitbit is really good at presenting its data in a digestible way. AW is really good at pretty much everything else. Neither are bad though.

I have a preference, but mostly because I’m already quite invested in the Apple ecosystem, so any device that acts as an extension of this will be a priority for me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I miss the simplicity and the size. I ONLY used mine for time and steps and I haven't even looked at steps (I dont even know how) in the 4 years I've had the Apple watch. And the "rings" drive me bananas.

But I use it for EVERYTHING else.
