Davies’ Women’s Sports Union, alongside the conservative advocacy group ADF International, has now issued letters to 10 organisations. They contend that these bodies are in breach of the law and are failing to adequately protect women and girls by permitting male-born competitors to participate in their events.

parkrun allows competitors to identify by gender rather than sex.

The webpage states: “We feel this is aligned with us as a health and wellbeing charity that provides non-competitive, socially-focused physical activity, and allows people to identify in the way they feel most appropriate and comfortable.”

These pressure groups obviously have no leg to stand on, and are blatant transphobes. Go fuck yourselves bigots.

Who the fuck cares who enters a park run? A non competitive event where everyone runs or walks together. I hope common sense prevails so that this is thrown out and they have to pay legal fees

Ah, but have you considered that by vilifying a blameless minority for imagined crimes, a group of dangerous autocrats can rally their supporters to surrender their rights? I hope I cleared that up for you.

I really hope parkrun tell these people to go fuck themselves. But also worry about the amount of funding these bullshit lawsuits could have and what it may end up costing parkrun if it doesn't just get thrown out.

I wonder if a part of this isn’t just for the publicity itself so that the sponsors of parkrun get scared and withdraw their support

Maybe I should start running parkruns with a pride flag to show my support. Colourful things isn't really my style though.

What kind of tiny stunted life do you have to want to rain on this particular parade? To the extent of legal action? Piss off you sad feeble fuckwits.

Editing to add a further rant: I do wonder if cis men realise they are being painted as rapists by all this nonsense. The "reasoning" is that women and children need to be "protected" from trans women because they are actually men. Take that a step further then, and you'd have to ban all cis men as well. Because if you look at the stats, rape and sexual assaults are overwhelmingly committed by cis men.

The fact that the presence of men at parkrun events isn't an issue lays bare that this is just another attack on a minority group that somehow makes these weirdos uncomfortable.

The one bright spot at the moment is that JK Rowling is now represented in the Scottish Parliament by a trans MSP. Chew on that wasp Joanne!

Maybe I've been asleep for a few years, but i thought parkrun wasn't a competition? And that all genders ran together anyway?

Truly idiotic, and will probably backfire because anyone can see there's no risk to women. If you just had everyone take part in a single category, parkrun would be absolutely fine.

On a more detailed level, this seems like another body that thinks a ruling which says "organisations may choose to discriminate on the basis of sex in order to provide single-sex spaces for certain purposes" means "organisations must choose to so discriminate" which is unbelievably stupid. However, the media doesn't seem to have understood that either so it's no wonder.
