    Based, but I feel like bluntly saying this is self-sabotage. Better to be vaguely NATO-skeptical and then leave after you get elected.

    I'm not so sure. Having a principled position can work and goes a long way to rally people. Instead of trying to tip toe around the issue, he's tackling it head on. The sentiment in France is very much anti liberal establishment, and against the US. Saying the quiet part out loud can be powerful.

    Any socialist running for president should be saying this. PSL candidates would say the same thing. It's important to have the correct analysis of what a socialist france must do for when they build the movement to seize power

    He keeps getting more and more popular, and everyone agrees that he has a serious chance of winning now that the situation got so bad, and people are increasingly looking for radicality.
