Can relate.

There was a brief period of time (roughly 2006-2015ish) when the best Windows machine was a Mac and that will never not be funny to me. I think it was PC Magazine that ranked the MacBook Pro specifically as the best machine for Vista sometime around 2008.

CPU optional.

Imagine opening a pizza box just to find an old potato. ๐Ÿ˜‹

... aaas long your potato has a processor better than a 486 anyway.

The beauty of it, in a way, is that if someone really relies on support for that, there might be way to fork the kernel to keep supporting it. It might be a big initial task, but then again, maybe not. Support was there up until very recently, and if you have such specific requirements, you might have the skill/resources to just maintain it. It's not like you'd have to start from scratch.

Steep requirements. Linux has changed :(

[-] mech@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago

... aaand you're trying to run the newest kernel on it for some reason.

[-] palordrolap@fedia.io 4 points 2 weeks ago

Listen, I'm convinced the next kernel will finally fix the bug that in rare circumstances causes my potato to spontaneously mash itself and start whistling dixie.

... or maybe I'm confusing my potato with my brain again.

Potato on pizza may be unusual, but I like it. I'm not so sure about grubs though.

[-] AliasVortex@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Seconding the potato on pizza; my college job had a pizza by the slice place right around the corner that made a baked potato pizza (potato slices, green onions, and bacon) that was way better than it had any right to be.

That Linux PC magically attracts all cats in a 5 mile radius.

[-] FishFace@piefed.social 10 points 2 weeks ago

My friend used to have a pc in a cardboard box, but it had a separate monitor. Also you had to turn it on twice; the first time it would crash...
