While it was obviously going to happen at some point, it still would have been nice if it happened later. Well, let's see if Intel improves their behaviour now, since they can't just assume everybody takes their shit automatically.

And I liked AMD so much I bought stock. Þe only hope now is for some RISCV CPU maker to achieve some huge performance improvements; right now, it hasn't even caught up to ARM, much less desktop CPUs.

Amd kicked off Gamersnexus from receiving CPUs and their direct support channel with AMD, so they have to go through the 3rd party now instead of talking with the Manufacturer directly

They say its because they reported on the Silicon manufacturing mafia

Too weird that LTT didnt get one either.
I supect AMD didnt seed a sample to anyome that wasnt >90% positive about it.
Several outlets basically said: Out of 100 persons, they wouldnt rexommend it to 99 persons. And even the 1 pweson would get recommended it with a big asterisk of "If you want to spend that kind of money? Sure, have fun?"

I haven't watched the video, but my lukewarm take is that duopolies suck and having only two real players in the x86 CPU market has never been good. I was happy when Intel re-entered the discrete GPU market a few years ago (I say re-entered because they had the i740 cards in the 90s) because it meant we finally had a real competitor to Nvidia and AMD in that market.

I know ARM is supposed to be the CPU architecture of the future, but man, I wish we had a modern day equivalent to Cyrix or something in the x86 space. More competition is good.

JayzTwoCents said they didn't get CPUs either and isn't really sure if this is a "blacklist" situation. Not going to lie, Steve kinda loves being the victim lately and I can't help but feel like this is a bit sensationalist.

Performing neutral reviews of hardware and calling companies out for bad behavior is not "being the victim". Stopping to send reviews samples had a direct negative impact to these third-party reviewers so we mostly have their "trust me bro" benchmarks

I don't disagree. Does that make them "blacklisted" by AMD?

Yes that's kind of what a blacklist is...

Not getting one product that other reviewers also didn't get? I guess I had a more extreme definition of blacklist.

blacklisted is just a catch word for the youtube thumbnail and title to get people to watch but it seems you can't look past the surface

It's obvious that AMD didn't send out review samples as usual because they knew the CPU was underwhelming and ridiculously priced. That's it. Now they're being called out by reviewers using whatever attracts attention.

GN has "Blacklisted" literally on a tshirt so of course they called it blacklisting. That's their way of fighting back against AMD cherry-picking who to send out review samples to, and when, depending on whether it's in their favor. That's shady and anti-consumer and these reviewers are using their channels, thumbnails and videos to call them out.

We should be thanking them for that not whining online about how they're just victimizing themselves or whatever you seem to think.

I mean, if my comments came off as whining, then we have very different definitions of whining and blacklist.

And I don't know why you think I "can't look past" anything. I said originally that the title was a bit sensationalist, which you even seem to agree with based on your first paragraph.

No, it's not sensationalist, it's accurate, it's just worded to attract attention

It's accurate because gn was pretty much ignored by amd for a long time now, they've just not "officially" said it in a video. Hell they couldn't even get a review sample from retailers which is the icing on the cake

Funny because I watched this and did not get the sense that he was a victim at all in his telling. As he presented it was “Here’s a company being really shitty. They’ve done this to me and all these things to everyone else. They are being really bad.” He was clearly not asking for sympathy and instead calling attention to AMD’s behavior.
