I really wish they were not using a Mediatek chip so there would be custom ROM support. That said, this does seem like a good choice, especially for the relatively low cost of the Communicator.
It's not impossible for custom ROMs to exist. And possibly GSIs.
Maybe being a enthusiast niche device (and a unique one) could mean a bit more dev attention.
People are already laying the groundwork for custom ROMs on the iKKO MindOne, and that phone has a more unusual MediaTek processor and a much smaller following. I can pretty much guarantee there will be similar (larger scale) interest in developing for the Communicator.
this is definitely my next phone. pre-ordered it already because I have been following Mr. Mobile for awhile and hope this takes off cause I need a physical keyboard again with all of these features.
only thing I dislike about this is the name, too long. ill be calling it my clicks comm lol
This IMO is great news. It should be powerful enough to do everything you could want from it smoothly, at least on this kind of device.
It's quite powerful. Recent Anbernic RG557 uses it.
But yeah, I'd prefer a Snapdragon.
