Pretty much. The new aspect is that everything the US does now is intended to benefit Trump and whoever is currently in his favor (but mostly Trump). Given how often he changes his mind, there's no telling what's coming next. Being the wildcard and having nuclear weapons is a dangerous combination. The world is right to worry about us.

    No.

Trump is the all American boy. The American dream, the real one, not the one they sell to you to work and bleed for them.

It's all the same game from the streets to the president. Most people are taught not to play it, so it plays them.

The difference is that people are seeing it now. It was always there happening. If people don't understand this then there really isn't any hope.

Put your faith in humanity, yourself, and the people close to you. Or else this will happen over and over again. No one is coming to save you. You can't elect someone to save you.

    No.

Yes, and emphatically so. If you cannot distinguish the difference between Donald Trump and what he's currently doing, and all other presidents, then your head is planted firmly up your own ass.

It's not terribly different, just with less focus on the optics and mildly more brazen.

We invaded Iraq for oil, we're gearing up to invade Venezuela for oil.

We have been cruel and exploitative to undocumented migrants for quite some time, but now it's just dialed up and a little extra racist.

They're just doing it all in a way that makes you feel gross, which you should, but having shame about the evil being done doesn't change the material harm.

Care to tell me why I'm wrong, rather than make a silly analogy and call me names?

Things have basically always been getting worse over every administration. Usually just quicker over republican admins.

It's OK. You don't need examples or data when you have vibes. I wish you well regardless.

Dude is full of shit. The US government had funded coup detats, started illegal wars, and essentially raped other countries all for corporate business interests since the beginning. Its enslaved, genocided, and illegally jailed its own citizens for decades. Its affecting white middle class America now so suddenly its different

The difference is, Americans themselves are now affected by what Trump is doing so now it all suddenly matters.

But while US was fucking countries around the world and you were not being directly affected, then it was ok.

Thinking just like any good "conservative".

Having spent a good deal of my career tracking malign foreign actors who undermine democracy around the world and coming up with strategies to defend against them, this was a rude reality check. I had to ask myself: “Wait, are we the bad guys?”

    Yes. Next question.

If you listen to this (yeah i know, its an hour long) you’ll start to understand why AI is such a threat. If the americans give AI personhood, like it did for corporations, then AI without human intervention will be deciding your job, your health insurance claim or your pension entitlements. Furthermore the algorithms that feed on emotions like hate will drive humans into smaller and smaller tribes of like emotion. That will be the end of countries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qIfC-fsxgM

While many may be tempted to cut the U.S. off as an ally and partner

At this point I think it's more a matter of keeping your friends close, and your enemies closer

    so easily

Easily? Really? At least for Europe it's the opposite: we did everything and more to not give up on the country that rebuilt our economies and brought us democracy after WWII
