i feel like they can't expect me to do what they want in the relationship (spend more time with them and not friends and Super Mario/Nintendo games) but rather they should do what i want, which is just play with me and realize i can't be there for them.

i wouldn't call myself a Nintendo addict, but i do play for very long hours without even talking to my partner. yes, i've seen the other gaming post as a fedi lurker, but i also have a similar relationship. i don't talk to them because i'm so absorbed in my game that i forget and don't even think about them. i only think about them when i'm not playing a game, which is admittedly rarely, though i would never tell them this.

i can't be there for them when they're upset nor can i talk to them through their depression and anxiety because i'm busy on a game, but i really feel like they should give gaming a try. it's a fun form of escapism and shooters and Super Mario really help.

as someone with a gamer gf, i feel like you really need to spend more time with your partner. you can't just game 24/7 and expect them to still want to be with you, quite frankly. a relationship goes both ways and you should really do something about your mental health/addiction. yes, i saw you play for 11+ hours by the way. that is indeed an addiction.

No offense, but if you're that absorbed with video games, are you really cut out for dating? I still give my boyfriend and girlfriend (open relationship) my time and attention even if I do play games with the buddies for hours (5 hours LOL).

Yikes, dude. I don't think you are well positioned to be in any relationship. Which is unfortunate because your partner sounds like they need a good support system. If you like your partner enough, fix your behavior. If you don't, break up with them.

A relationship can only work if everyone is getting out of it what they need.it sounds like your partner isn't getting what they need currently. If you care about them, it might be worth trying to game less and be present more, or at least gaming at different times when they don't need you to be present.

You can be there for them. You just have to choose to.
