We're in the final days of the countdown to Taylor Swift's latest release, and it's been alright in the community. We've had a lot of downvote trolls but posts consistently blast past the trolls and are higher than I'd expect. I do wish there was more engagement, but I'm in it for the long haul

    • The September sumo tournament ended yesterday! On !sumo@lemmy.world I made a "how to watch" post at the beginning, middle, and end of the tourney and encouraged others to post. One person did indeed post several times, which was great! And several other folks made comments. So the approach of "posting a couple times and encouraging others to post" during limited-time events seems promising.
    • !juggalos@lemmy.world - another person started posting after I made an announcement (which got a fair amount of discussion) on newcommunities

    Following the recent post on !lemmyworld@lemmy.world , I've been trying to post a bit on !world@quokk.au , seems like a few other people do to ( @Quokka@quokk.au , @PhilipTheBucket@piefed.social @Domino@quokk.au @cm0002@lemmy.world )

Seems like !globalnews@lemmy.zip is active too and has similar content, should we try to see with them if they might consider switching to !world@quokk.au ?

Yeah, !world@quokk.au is nice. For whatever my opinion is worth, I don't think it really needs consolidation, !globalnews@lemmy.zip is nice too. It's good infrastructure hygiene to spread these things out a little into a little ecosystem, so if I start frothing at the mouth and deleting any criticism of Democrats, or something, there are still five or six other thriving communities where people can say their thing.

    That makes sense too.

Kind of related, have you made a decision on !politics@piefed.social ?

Wanting to stop all the gaming communities I run so I can stop finding out about new and interesting games and wanting. A huge part of how I save money is plain old disinterest in and disengagement from things. Don't care to watch the latest stream, not interested, don't care what the newest trends are, I like my own fashion better… but keeping up with gaming news to try to have stuff to post on Lemmy exposes me to cool things I want to play and thus buy, even though I do not actually have the time. And I purchase when on sale. Might need to go seeking other mods to turn over to, but I also know that I might not find them and I do want to keep helping the Fediverse so…
