That pic is valid because it's a lab in Australia. Sheesh! Use some common sense.

[-] blackbrook@mander.xyz 9 points 6 months ago

If you hold the picture upside down the dna spirals the right way.

[-] logicbomb@lemmy.world 60 points 6 months ago

Even if we assume that he's wearing a ladies shirt for a moment... Why does he have that stethoscope? Is this what doctors do when the patient is waiting in the exam room?

[-] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 6 months ago

Wait what, where did you get that ladies shirt?

[-] azi@mander.xyz 43 points 6 months ago

Either the image is an accurate facsimile (DNA was wrong and the guy's wearing a men's size shirt (buttons are on his right side)) or the image was mirrored (DNA was correct and the guy's wearing a women's size shirt (buttons are on his left))

[-] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 30 points 6 months ago

Shirt buttons are sown onto the left side of women's clothes and the right side of men's. The buttons on his shirt are on his right side.

I'm assuming OP means maybe the DNA model has the helix spinning the wrong way because the image was flipped horizontally, but that would cause the shirt buttons to be on the wrong side for men's clothes.

[-] Ziglin@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago

So that's why my shirts are inconsistent...

WHY IS SOCIETY LIKE THIS? I'll have to make a shirt in which I alternate each button as revenge!

[-] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 months ago

Apparently it stems from the days when women had servants who helped them dress, while men generally didn't.

[-] sqw@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 6 months ago

every other button is both on the other side and facing inward?

[-] blackbrook@mander.xyz 9 points 6 months ago

You can tell what type a base pair is by listening to the tone it makes, but it's very quiet so you need a stethoscope.

[-] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 48 points 6 months ago

I once saw a shutterstock photo of someone using a large soldering iron on a motherboard, holding it like a pen (so holding the hot part). Stuff like this is so poorly done and fake, it's at the level of porn acting.

[-] javiwhite@feddit.uk 81 points 6 months ago

Here is the sacred tome you refer too m'lord wiggle;

Seriously though, is this the one you were thinking of?

I'm fairly sure this is the original I saw; But searching for "woman, soldering iron" results in many copycats, so it's hard to say if this is actually the one from back when, or if my mind just misremembers it as such.

[-] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 26 points 6 months ago

Saw her at the range the other day

[-] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 months ago

Cracked orbit in 3... 2... 1...

[-] And009@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 6 months ago

Black eye, coming soon...

[-] vonxylofon@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

Not OP, but I've seen this one years ago. Defo the one.

[-] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

Not the one I know, I've seen one with the woman wearing a hard hat 😂

[-] vonxylofon@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Hmm, I've spent quite some time in meme circles including 4chan back in the day, but I don't remember one with a hard hat. Oh well, I stand corrected.

[-] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Doesn't matter, the idea is the same. Poor performance, perfect meme content haha

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 28 points 6 months ago

Most useful stethoscope ever

[-] Nikls94@lemmy.world 22 points 6 months ago

Quick! How do we know he’s a doctor? He could be a scientist with this cost! We need a stethoscope!!

[-] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 15 points 6 months ago

That's clearly a selfie made with iPhone, which is why it's mirrored...

[-] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

You see both his hands. So someone else would have to use the selfie camera but also make sure they are not in frame. I mean, it's not impossible, but it's highly unlikely. As much as I would like to blame Apple products, it's more likely this is not a mirrored image but human stupidity. Seeing what's happening in the world these days, I always assume everything is human stupidity unless there's proof it's a technical error or something. Although everything Apple related is also human stupidity.

[-] AlmightyDoorman@kbin.earth 10 points 6 months ago

It's obviously some smoothed Z-DNA

[-] muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com 9 points 6 months ago

OK very funny but its probably the camera doing a horizontal flip and the photographer not knowing to flip it back.

[-] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

Judging by the buttons on his shirt, probably not.

[-] muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com 7 points 6 months ago

I didn't even think of that. That's clever nice spot.

[-] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 6 months ago

He likes wearing female blouses and doesn't appreciate your judgement.

[-] Empricorn@feddit.nl 9 points 6 months ago

"That's it, Dr Scientist, you're not taking this seriously. YOU'RE FIRED!"

"Good! I'm a maverick, I don't play by your rules! Fuck you, here's my badge and my gun!"

"Wait, why do you have a badge and a gun!? We didn't issue you those... You work in a lab!"

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago
[-] Soup@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

You could flip the image but the thing about a spiral is that it’s the same no matter you turn it around in space.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago

If you physically spin it, yes, it wouldn’t change its direction, but I was talking about flipping the image horizontally.

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca -1 points 6 months ago

Wow, okay racist
