Working within Lemmy’s limits (lemmy.world)

I’ve tried to create a few BORU-style posts, but the fact that Lemmy has a 10k character limit to posts is proving limiting.

Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions for how to format/share stories within this limit are welcome!

If it's a post from reddit you'd like to bring over, screen shots work. Otherwise, I'm not sure. 😭 I miss BORU the most. lol I was addicted to it.

    Screenshots unfortunately aren’t super accessible for screen readers :(

    It was suggested to me in another thread to use something like Pastebin to share large amounts of text, but when I tried, it wasn’t formatted :( I’m also looking at possibly using Github pages, which will apply the correct formatting, but I’m thinking users are unlikely to click thru to 3rd party webpages anyway

    Mod of c/BestOfLemmyUpdates here. The post character limit should be updated to 50k-100k once servers update to 0.18.

    Also would you like me to point people from that community here? This community seems a lot more popular, although reddit focused.

    Oh yay!! I’m glad they’ve already made the update to the codebase. I wasn’t expecting it to be that fast lol.

    You’re welcome to point people here if you want! Though, that one could be for Lemmy updates only & they could be cross-posted to this one too! Whatever you’d like to do :)

    We actually don’t want to focus on Reddit lol, it probably comes across that way because we’re mostly Reddit refugees who loved best of Redditor updates :). I’m going to be posting from AskAManager & others too, but will probably wait for the character limit update.
