• sshfs (mount a remote file system locally)
• sshuttle (tunnel your traffic over SSH, ephemeral VPN)
• mirror a remote port to a local port (I use this to manage syncthing on my server)

Nice tips! Personally will use SSH aliases and canonicalised hostnames.

Combine with "foxyproxy" to send all non-corporate-Internet" connections over your own ssh tunnel to keep personal web traffic private or to access services on your home network without needing a vpn.

You can route things over ssh like RDP for example. Used that a few times to remote in too a desktop at home. Can't install a VPN on most company and school devices. But ssh is build in to windows.

If you use Windows, I highly recommend trying Mobaxterm.
