Google Maps blocks Gulf of America reviews after rename criticism (www.bbc.com)

It still shows up as Gulf of Mexico on Organic Maps. At least with Openstreetmaps the community can debate the topic while not having to deal with corporate higher-ups who force through the change anyways despite feedback.

If it has to block reviews then you know it was not the right decision for anyone but a CEOs bank account

That is not accurate. OSM records all the names for the gulf, including official_name:en-us=Gulf of America
