I'm shooting a movie currently and after a conversation with my director we realized that we couldn't think of a single prequel that we liked. However, we both agreed that there has to be at least one.

What do you think? Are there any good prequels?

The first thing that came to mind, after the fact, was The House of the Dragon the Game of Thrones prequel.

I watched the 2011 The Thing last night which sparked the conversation today!

    I mean, it wasn't bad but also...not that great? Agh, I hate dishing on movies. They're so hard to make!

    Thinking about it, i think you're right.

    It's been a while since I've seen it, but didn't it "okay things safe", just retread many of the same plot beats while making relatively superficial changes?

    I totally get not wanting too critical on movies, especially when you're involved in the process yourself.
