I think these modern liberals would refer to those original British Trots as tankies, the ones who coined the term. Decades of propaganda and a weakened left in the west has resulted in these oddball social democrats who claim to be far more leftist than they actually are, because revolutionary socialism is too scary or something. Or they think foreigners are scary.
