Looks like this one is in Germany (lemmy.dbzer0.com). I'm in the USA and I was getting big lags and sluggish response. I found one in my region and it's very snappy (lemmy.one). When you find a close instance, you can search for non-local communities and subscribe to them that way, just select the "all" button next to the communities search box.
