I love those thinkpads so much. Perfect hybrid of functionality and physical buttons.

I like that it still has the mouse clit

Same thing here. There's2 things I do on a new thinkpad even before installing Linux on it

  1. Swap fn/left Ctrl
  2. Disable touchpad

The nipple mouse is just perfect for when you don't have access to a proper mouse, and disabling touchpad in bios just eliminates all the annoyances with touchpad such as your palm ruining the day when typing

keeb klit, nav nipple, GUI Gooch...

one thing I don't get is why the proper mouse buttons are above the mousepad

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They're for the clit mouse. The bottom of the touchpad still has a physical click option

Some call it trackpoint. It's the red button in the middle of your keyboard

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (2 children)

does anyone actually use that though? it's super impractical

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

Yeah there's some amount of people who like it, including me. Wouldn't use it over a proper mouse, but surely over a trackpad

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Not impractical, you just don’t have enough experience with them yet :)

This is just the better way, just as its better to swap Fn and Ctrl

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

the Fn shouldn't be there at all, just add more buttons

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Often possible but no.

Thinkpads now having sticky Fn keys by default is hillarious though, people just dont use Fn keys (and I have to admit all I use is F5 and F11)

there are some games (Minecraft) that use the F buttons too so I find it annoying having to swap all the time
