I use the AW8 for when I want a smaller, lighter watch. It’s great for traveling and I do some workout, like boxing, where it gets uncomfortable under my gloves. I mostly use the Ultra 2 though. Also, I have cellular on the AW8 and haven’t transferred it to the Ultra 2 yet. I don’t like to bring my phone on hikes, so I wear the AW8 so that I have a connection. It’s an evolving situation.
