Hello!

I know this has been asked several times, but to be honest the answers I found where a little bit vague.

The thing is my grandma is not getting younger and she is has been falling these past few months. Thankfully, my fiance and I live with her, so we can be there as soon as something happens, but, as we are both working from home, we are usually with headphones, and the last 2 times our dog was the one that alerted us about grandma falling.

Now to the point. We do have iPhones, but grandma does not. I was thinking about buying an Apple Watch for her just for the fall detection and health tracking, but my question is if I do go out of the house, will the apple watch with only the Wifi connection be able to notify me (or anyone on the emergency contacts) about a fall; or do my iPhone needs to be by her side at all times?

Maybe buying the one with celluar data will help? The thing is she is too old to be using an iPhone and it would be just for the apple watch, so it seems like a lot of money and trouble for nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do not get an Apple Watch for an elderly person to use as a fall alarm

This is good advice, even on a dedicated life safety device fall detection is poor. Don’t bother disagreeing with me on this I sell them for a living and I know this for a fact.

I agree totally , the biggest plus on a dedicated fall alarm is they just have a big simple obvious button to press , if the call centre don’t get a reply , they just call an ambulance
