Eminem has defended his guest verse on Kid Rock’s new faith-based album, saying a friendship that goes back decades matters more than the political divide between them. “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us,” he wrote on social media hours after Halfway 2 Jesus came out on Friday.

His verse appears on “Heal My Faith,” which isn’t the song he was originally announced for. He was first billed on “7 Sins,” but the tracklist was reshuffled at the last minute, with Lil Wayne taking that song and Eminem moving to “Heal My Faith.” Kid Rock told Billboard they agreed they didn’t need two songs together, joking that otherwise “people are going to think we’re dating.” He also said he “really didn’t want to drag him into my political world,” and that the two talk politics only “a little bit, not a ton.”

I actually keep going back and thinking “seriously? 28??”

That song came out in 2000, and was recorded between July 1999 and March 2000 (according to Wikipedia). Eminem was born in 1972.

So technically he was probably 27 1/2 when he wrote it, and Britney Spears would have been 18.

Christina Aguilera, too. He called her a bitch and accused her of giving blowjobs to older men because she said out loud who he was legally married to. He was nearly 28, she was 18. Imagine being 27 and insulting high schoolers on your albums, then thinking you’re tough because children love it. That’s Eminem.

He’s always been embarrassing, he’s just been protected by Dr. Dre.
