Also points for the tie, very tastefully tied and with nice dimples. From this article about how stylish he is https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2025-11-08/zohran-mamdani-becomes-new-york-city-s-new-style-icon

I mean, dude's cool but it feels a bit like hero worship to think he's a fashion icon too permalink fedilink source hideshow 9 child comments replies: [–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (7 children) I used to think that until I got a freelance gig for a custom dress shirt company. The cut of the suit and the shirt make a difference. For example, a button-down collar is more working class since they’d be in situations where the collar could pop up. This makes it more casual than a collar with stays. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 7 child comments replies: [–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone -3 points 1 day ago* (6 children) Not gonna lie, I work a working-class job, I wear clothes at work that'll get wrecked in my job and different clothes, more fun and flashy clothes in my private life. This entire outfit reads as a suit and tie. I ain't gonna look at those little details, I already know it's a suit and tie. It's a uniform for certain professionals and that's about it. It's not fashionable or unfashionable. It's not interesting or good looking, it's just work clothes for other jobs. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] Today@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (3 children) I totally agree that it just looks like a suit and tie when he's the only one in the photo. I don't know enough to appreciate the details, but if you put someone in something very nicely tailored (but not the stupid skinny short suits) next to Trump's baggy bullshit, one looks put-together and one looks like a kid wearing his older brothers suit to a funeral. Sure, body shape is a bit of it, but a good suit and a good tailor can make a huge difference- it's about looking like your clothes fit, not just about looking trim. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 23 hours ago* (1 child) Having clothes that fit you properly is important. A wide pant leg can look spectacular, and a billowing shirt body puffing out of the top of your pants can too. The drape and body of the fabrics involved really matter for this. I should make some posts about good baggy soon. I'd compare with bad baggy but people don't seem to like negative posts much around here permalink fedilink source parent [–] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world [S] 7 points 1 day ago Absolutely fair! The devil is in the details as they say, his outfit has the little details done really well. It isn't really high fashion unless you are a nerd about clothes. Not hero worship; a different pic of him would not do. permalink fedilink source parent
