The irony of using AI to generate an image about enjoying the downfall of the tech oligarchy. They thank you for your data

This is what happens when you're aggressively ignorant about a particular technology, and you don't even realize that you can run open image gen models on your machine. https://huggingface.co/Tongyi-MAI/Z-Image-Turbo

I also love how Americans think that the burger reich is the only place where this tech is developed.

Why do slopperators get so red in the face when their low effort slop is criticized for being soulless ugly trash that pollutes not just our environment but our social media feeds? In all my time on the internet, I've never seen redditors or 4channers get this upset over their shitposts being received negatively. It's some new form of AI induced rage.

Plus environmental impact n all that

As opposed to the environmental impact of running any other software on your computer?

Well if simply making an image takes more energy than running my fridge for a week then it’s not worth it. Why are you being so obtuse about this?

According to a quick internet search, an average fridge takes 1-2kWh per day, so that's at least 7kWh per week.

Making an image takes ~20 seconds. My computer, for example, has a 700W PSU, so it can't draw more power than that. That's at most 0.004kWh.

Well if 0.004kWh takes more energy than 7kWh then it’s not worth it.

Seems like your statement is going to the else branch.

What part of image gen models run on your computer and use about the same amount of power as playing a game are you still struggling with here? Why are you being so obtuse about this?

Did you generate this yourself? What program do you use? Did you make this FOR yourself? Because you posted it for others to look at. I’m not the only one who doesn’t like looking at it.

To answer your question; it’s your problem I don’t like looking at it. Fuck your dumbass AI.

If it were my choice I’d make all you turn off your computers for a day no matter how much energy it took. Lol. You get a daily limit. Maybe then you’d have to go outside or practice making art that isn’t horrendous AI imitation of real humans real art.

I mean, it's either American (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) Billionaires or Chinese (Alibaba, Z. AI) Billionaires making the models.

And even if you find a model not built by the billionaire class, you still require datacenters to train the models.

And even then, the data required to build these models must take from millions of artists/writers/etc.

I'm not saying you have to hate AI, but saying you can run a model locally doesn't change who created it and how they created it.

The key difference is that Chinese companies release their models in the open. And nothing is stopping people from building on that using community efforts instead of whinging about AI incessantly. Meanwhile, the data has already been taken, and I don't believe in copyrights in the first place. There are real arguments to be made against closed proprietary models, but there aren't really any good arguments against open ones.
