Note, this is a statement by a member of the Green Party, not the party itself.

Its also not wrong. I think the idea of something like Israel, after the holocaust is not a bad idea. Just terrible implementation with using someone else's land and also land that is important in most global religions.

There is lots of spare land in Australia and Canada and others, with values about protecting human rights. They should have been given territory somewhere like that as a safe place for Jews to be, without fear.

Its cone full circle though, and now Israel is using Jewishness to oppress. Any criticism is branded anti-Semitic. Most people like the UK green party have no problem with Judaism. Heck, their leader is Jewish.

The problem is with genocide. Not Jews or Judaism. Those committing genocide just happen to be Jewish. It's not racism against white people to say Russia is committing war crimes. It just happens that the only Jewish country is the one that is committing crimes against humanity. If they were of a different religion, it's still genocide.

Israel is hated by most of their neighbours, who would also do awful things to them, given the opportunity. Some of that is historical racism. Some is due to Israeli actions. That doesn't mean killing children is permissable. That doesn't mean taking more land is permissable. That doesn't mean Jews or Israelis are inherently bad. It means humans are easily turned against each other. Which is why we have laws and international law and standards.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation and also a government. Similar to how nelson Mandela was a terrorist. And many sinn fein politicians in northern Ireland. The oath forward is non violence and recognising crimes.

Greens need to actually become a socialist, anti-imperialist party. The only reason they lean socialist is because so many recognise the link between climate destruction and capitalism. For now they remain this weird combo of leftists, soc-dems, centrists and even some conservatives brought together by caring about the environment. If they officially become a socialist party, party-wide anti-zionism will naturally follow.

And then, at least we would have a significant organisation within parliament fighting back entirely and unabashedly against genocide.
