Maybe living in kkklanada (sorry lol) takes the sting off a bit (although I understand this text is about us too) and maybe I'm reading the text with rose-coloured glasses and he's literally telling us it's hopeless but I don't see it that way. I haven't been exposed to the criticisms you mention so I can't respond to them in a meaningful way.

I would encourage those who are able to engage with the text, sit with it, and think of it as highlighting practical challenges in north america as an aid to the local movements rather than a condemnation of them.
